Who We Are
First formed in early 1990s and reestablished in 2019, Woori Center is a network of Korean Americans in greater Philadelphia who are concerned about the issues of the most vulnerable community members, including the low-income, recent immigrant, limited English proficient, undocumented, women, seniors and young people. Meaning “us” or “we” in Korean, Woori Center organizes community members toward social, racial and economic justice. Woori Center is the newest affiliate of National Korean American Education and Services Consortium (NAKASEC), with which it shares the values of “Live Right,” “Know Your Roots,” “Live Strong,” and “Live Together.”
What We Do
Woori Center facilitates access to services for immigrants, organizes community members for immigrant rights advocacy, develop youth leadership, leads civic engagement campaigns and provides arts & culture programs. In doing so, Woori Center aims to empower the Korean and Asian American communities in Greater Philadelphia and beyond, and to contribute to building a society where everyone thrives together based on mutual understanding and respect.
